I came back from Mexico the night of Monday, May 20 at 11 PM… drove home, went to sleep, and was on the road by 7:30 AM for my 8 AM graduation. It’s been a whirlwind of a week! Here are some pictures of the special day – and all I can say is I feel so RELIEVED and excited! Getting my master’s degree was no doubt one of the hardest things I’ve ever done (up there with trying to lose weight), and it feels so awesome to have conquered a major goal. Education is a gift you give yourself that can never be taken away. Sounds cheesey, but I’m a big nerd for learning. We will always, always be better people if we keep on learning. I was thrilled to have my mom, dad, husband and dear friends Jason and Juan at the ceremony with me. I’m so lucky to have had their support, along with my in-laws, best friend, sister, brother and other great people that kept me going all along. If you’re curious what I did for a thesis, check out socialsyllabi.com. I created a student media handbook for student newspapers to use to jump start their success on Facebook, Twitter and YouTube. The final thesis ended up being 106 pages! Wearing this itchy, polyester gown was my reward for three years of slaving over that project. Here are some great photos of the day taken by my friend and fellow MA graduate, Luis.
